Apple Purchases Spektral for a Whopping Price of $30 Million

Apple has announced the purchase of Spektral, a Danish machine-learning company, for its software that erases background from videos in a manner similar to that of green screen editing. The real time video editing feature is another step towards making Apple the king of Augmented Reality.
Previously known as Cloud Cutout, Spektral was an obvious choice for Apple. The Danish company has successfully created several Augmented Reality software while proving their expertise in the field. The purpose behind coming up with a real-time video editing program was to make the video editing process less burdensome and more fun.
The purchase has been made for $30 million whereas, the deal for the same was closed in December 2017.
There have been rumors that Apple plans to diversify into Animojis and Memojis in the near future. Spektral can prove to be a great source of expertise and manpower required to make it happen. Also, there is a buzz of Apple releasing its headset in 2020 together with its ARKit and a lot of other cool stuff. With all of these, a part of Apple’s plan, the purchase of Spektral makes complete sense.
