Oh Facebook app, not again!
The platform once known for having the largest active users in the history is now recognized by its involvement in numerous breaching and hacking activities.
Once again, Facebook app found itself under hot water for the similar reason for which it faced suit laws, blames and what not.
Recently, the internet was blown up by the horrendous news of private messages of Facebook users leaked and displayed publicly.
Hacked, Accessed, Displayed: Private Messages From Almost 120 Million Facebook Users Were Affected
According to the BBC, Hackers gained access to private messages of nearly 120 million Facebook accounts. And nearly 81,000 accounts’ messages are already published for generating money.
Upon reaching out, Facebook quickly stated that no breaching was found through or on their system.

Furthermore, it is believed that the breaching was first observed in the month of September. And the alleged access to private messages of Facebook users was obtained by unnamed rogue browser extensions.
Is Facebook App Safe Or Not?
This isn’t the first time that Facebook was found flawed in protecting users’ data. In the recent time, the mighty social networking site was found guilty a number of times. First, it was the Cambridge Analytica debacle, later came the promotion of false news accusation. And now, the company is found helpless in the recent hacking of private messages.
It’s pretty obvious till now that it is the biggest security breach after Cambridge Analytica.
This is what Facebook app has to say about the recent event:
“We have contacted browser-makers to ensure that known malicious extensions are no longer available to download in their stores,” Guy Rose, Vice President of Product Management at Facebook, was quoted as saying.
“We have also contacted law enforcement and have worked with local authorities to remove the website that displayed information from Facebook accounts.”
