Political Ads on Facebook and Twitter

Political Ads on Facebook and Twitter
Rachel MFacebook, News, TwitterNovember 4, 2019

A lot has been going on in social media these days. From Twitter declaring to stop with the advertising of political ads to Facebook not compromising on political ad publishing at all.

To look into this serious matter and its consequences we have constructed this blog for our readers around the world.

Before giving details about a more negative approach by the Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, we’ll start by spreading details about the right approach to this agenda.

Twitter Shall No Longer Host Political Ads Says CEO:

With a more rational approach, Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter on Wednesday announced that the platform is no longer willing to publish/host political ads.

In a series of tweets (thread), he stated that publishing political ads affect internet communication globally. He, in his thread, stated why political message reach should be earned and not bought.

With Dorsey’s actions being appreciated by the social and global community, Mark Zuckerberg, on the other hand, has spurred some serious controversies.

Facebook Won’t Stop Publishing Political Ads, Even If They are False:

Apprehending how major impact Facebook has on its large audience, the company has stated that it won’t withdraw from hosting political ads on its platform.

Unlike Twitter, Facebook has a much larger audience, therefore, it has a much larger impact on the online audience.

Stating the functionality in democracy, Mark Zuckerberg on this matter stated on Wednesday that “ in a democracy, I don’t think it’s right for private companies to censor politicians or the news.”

What triggered the EMarketers and other social analysts regarding the Facebook approach on policing political ads and campaign is the company’s incompetent reasons put forward in defense and loads and loads of hypocrisy.

Stating itself as part of democracy ‘catalyst’ and still censoring content on its platform to satisfy governments like India, Pakistan, and Turkey, Facebook has come out as a vicious and hypocrite in might.

The censoring of content has been practicing on the platform to an extinct that countries with more freedom of speech get their accounts deleted or downgraded on and by Facebook.

The Facebook approach towards hosting political ads without making sure the information published is correct or not has successfully given an edge to political leaders like Donald Trump.

Trump who bathes in hatred and tells lies as human breathe, should be delighted with this news. As most of Trump’s unfiltered hatred is delivered to 45% of the Americal through Facebook.

We hope that Facebook decides to carry on with a  more logical and beneficial approach towards this matter.
