Uber is again in the news with its updated logo that is as simple as one could imagine. Logo renewal has been a constant activity at Uber which it has been performing since 2010. From odd logos that got all the bashing to the most simple ones that were a perfect depiction of the company, Uber has experimented with them all and this time minimalism has been their strategy.
Uber’s new logo, as in the news, is a simple word mark with the company’s name scribbled down in an ordinary font that very much resembles Sans Serif. The font is the same as used by several technology based companies around the world.
The two major issues that the company was facing with respect to its old logo were playing a major role in causing disconnection between Uber and its customers.
The previous logo, more of an abstract design, had a meaning to it which a good majority of its customers were unable to understand. This inability to comprehend the logo correctly, was leading customers to sway away from the brand while reducing Uber’s sales to a shockingly low level.
As per the sources, whenever a customer would book a ride, they found it difficult to locate the vehicle as there used to be a major difference between the structure of the app and the design of its logo. Considering all these issues, a redesign was mandatory.

The new Uber logo brings back Uber’s old tradition of the logo being simple and transparent. With an easy to read typeface and a design that fosters association, the new design is launched to correct the falling sales of Uber.
“We’re excited to unveil a new, simplified logo for the Uber app that brings back the U, is easily recognizable, and is scalable across the 660 plus cities we serve,”
says a spokesperson for Uber.
Other changes made by the company include a renewed mission that reads, “We ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion.”
With all these changes in place Uber is all set to take a fresh start. The results of the change will unveil in the future, however; considering the confidence that the company has in its new look, a good change is expected to be seen.
